Lang ist’s her, dass wir das letzte Mal über unser Lieblingsarchitektenbüro SAOTA Architects berichtet haben. Nachdem das letzte Projekt “The Nettle 199 House in Cape Town” der Snobtop Community so gefallen hat, gibt es heute Nachschlag. Und zwar einen Gewaltigen! Das Voelklip House wurde bereits 2009 in Hermanus, Südwesten Südafrikas, gebaut und lässt die Nachbarschaft seither im neuen Glanz erstrahlen. Zusammen mit den Innenarchitekten Antoni Associates entwickelten sie diese einzigartige Bleibe.
Der Auftrag lautete, ein Beach House an der südwestlichen Küste Südafrikas zu planen, welches auf der einen Seite ein hohes Maß an Privatsphäre, aber auf der anderen Seite einen weitläufigen Blick über die Nachbarschaft, die traumhafte Stadt und natürlich das Meer garantieren soll. So entwickelte SAOTA eine brillante Residenz mit einer perfekten Raumaufteilung, die den ein oder anderen Traum wahr werden lässt. Beispiel: Ein Frühstück mit Meerblick am Bett? Mit SAOTA kein Problem. SAOTA hat auch dieses Mal wieder bewiesen, mit welcher Raffinesse, Kreativität und Verständnis sie außergewöhnliche Häuser entwerfen.
Completed in 2009, our favourite bureau of architecture SAOTA Architecture and interior professionals Antoni Associates made together this wonderful building. The Cape Town-based studio SAOTA designed the Voelklip House project in Hermanus, a town on the southern coast of the Western Cape of South Africa. The idea was easy, a narrow 14 m site was engaged to its maximum to achieve a spacious home, which arranged a large garden and a brilliant pool courtyard. In addition SAOTA guarantees extensive capture moments for the panoramic sea views.
Die Partner Saota Architects & Antoni Associates nehmen sich die Auswahl der Materialien sehr zu Herzen. So sollen die ausgewählten Materialien den “Beach-House-Charakter” unterstützen und somit mit einem offenen, warmen Wohnraum bestechen. Viel Stein, Holz und Glas vollenden den minimalistischen und modernen Charakter des traumhaften Hauses.
Voelklip House by SAOTA and Antoni Associates:
The brief called for a beach house suitable for a family of four, on a vacant site in Voelklip, Hermanus, Western Cape, RSA. The site is a long thin rectangular subdivision stretching from the sun facing street and mountain side to the undulating tree tops of the milkwoods and fynbos and the coastline on the South.
The gently sloping site presented the opportunity for a split-level living space allowing lounge, dining to be placed above the bedrooms on the ground level, all enjoying dramatic sea views. The double volume family room and kitchen form the heart of the home and form the connection between the sea facing accommodation and the internal sunny terraces, pool and garden. The main garden courtyard functions as a large wind free and sunny outdoor entertainment environment.
Materials were selected to enhance the beach-house character of the building while at the same time adding touches of sophisticated detail: white cement screed floors to the public circulation areas; lime washed oak floors to the lounge, dining area and lower-ground floor bedrooms; off shutter concrete ceilings; and external timber decks and pergolas, cladding, screens and shutters providing security, privacy and protection.
